Intermittent rain: NOA urges farmers to remain steadfast in Kaduna
By Sani Idris
Amidst intermittent rain, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged farmers in Kaduna and Nigerian at a whole to remain steadfast.
The State Director of NOA in Kaduna State, Hamisu Mayere, made the call in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Kaduna signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Argungu.
He quoted Mayere as urging the farmers not to panic or despair in the face of the intermittent rainfall currently affecting farming activities in some states across the country.
The director explained that the change in climatic conditions being experienced in Nigeria was actually a global phenomenon.
He recalled that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) had earlier presented to the public the 2024 Seasonal Climate Prediction(SCP) forecast.
Mayere also explained that the 2024 SCP indicated that rain would be delayed in some parts of the country.
Also, Little Dry Season (LDS) otherwise known as ‘break in rainfall’, may also occur in other parts.
According to the director, breaks in rainfall particularly in some parts of the state which is currently being observed means that the rainy season may likely last till November.
He, therefore, advised the farmers to remain resolute and continue with their farming activities, while expressing optimism that the rain would soon resume.
Mayere disclosed that the agency, through its offices across the state was set to also launch a campaign on the importance of clearance of drainages of polythene bags and other materials with a view to avoiding flooding and other disasters.(NAN)
