The Secretary General of Jama’atul Nasril Islam,(JNI), Prof. Khalid Abubakar has urged leaders at all levels Government to live above board in addressing the myriads of challenges that mitigate Nigeria’s growth and development.
Abubakar made the call at the 6th annual inter-faith peace conference organised by Inter-faith Dialogue Forum for Peace-IDFP and KAICIID Dialogue Center in partnership with Kaduna State Government, on Thursday in Kaduna.
He described hunger, starvation, dilapidated structures, corruption as looming problems that result in chaos and societal decay.
He pointed out that socio-economic development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Professor Khalid Abubakar advocated for a paradigm shift in addressing these challenges head long instead of blame games.
Also the President Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who was represented by Bishop Sunday Onuoha, said, “There is too much hunger in the land and nobody is safe.
” We are all responsible for our challenges in this country. Not too long ago, a fully loaded warehouse was taken over by hungry Nigerians in Abuja, and the federal government issued a statement and said they were criminals.
“Well, whether they are criminals or whatever you called them, the truth is that they are Nigerians fighting for survival. Nigerian leaders should off load all the warehouses wherever they are because Nigerians are hungry and they need food. If we can solve the problem of hunger, we have solved the problem of insecurity.”
Also speaking, the Co-Chair of Inter-faith Dialogue Forum-IDFP, Dr Yusuf Arrigasiyyu explained that the organisation has been instrumental in creating an enabling environment of mutual respect and co-operation for a stronger and more united Nigeria.
He added that IDFP remain committed to fostering Inter-faith dialogue, peacebuilding and understanding among diverse religious and cultural communities in Nigeria.(NAN)
