Arewa Youth Assembly Rejects Call for Negotiation With Terrorists By Sen. Ahmed Yerima Bakura

The Arewa Youth Assembly, a prominent youth organization in Northern Nigeria, has slammed Sen. Yerima Bakura, the former governor of Zamfara State following his recent call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to negotiate with Terrorists, the same way Late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua handled the Niger-Delta crisis.

This was contained in a statement by Mr Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker of the group and made available to newsmen.

He said they strongly disagrees with Mr. Bakura's position and felt compelled to express their concerns.

Danlami said that while they  recognize the complexity of the security challenges facing the Northern region, they believe that negotiating with bandits is not a viable long-term solution. 

"Banditry and other forms of criminality pose a significant threat to the peace and stability of our country," he said.

Danlami therefore,  urged the relevant authorities, including the Federal Government to prioritize the use of all necessary means to address the menace.

He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use brutal force to decimate terrorist elements and restore peace in the region

He therefore, said In light of the escalating security situation in the Northern region, he  called on President Tinubu to take decisive action in dealing with the terrorist. 

"We believe that the use of brutal force, within legal and ethical boundaries, may be necessary to decimate these renegades and restore peace in the country. 

"We understand the complexities and challenges associated with using force, but we firmly believe that the safety and security of our people must be the paramount consideration,"he said. 

Danlami therefore, implored President Tinubu to employ all available resources, including the armed forces, to eradicate the threat posed by terrorists in our region.

He reiterated the group's unwavering support for the Nigerian Armed Forces, while commending their commitment, bravery, and sacrifices in the face of daunting security challenges. 

"The men and women in uniform have demonstrated their dedication to protecting our nation and its citizens,"he added.

He appreciated  President Bola  Tinubu for his recent appointments of Service Chiefs with proven track records. 

"We believe that these appointments will bring fresh perspectives and strategies to address the security situation in our region," Danlami Said.

He restated their committment to working alongside the government and all stakeholders to achieve lasting peace and security in the northern region. 

"We believe that a comprehensive approach, including the use of force when necessary, will be critical in restoring law and order. Together, we can build a more secure and prosperous future for all Nigerians,"he said.
