2023 Presidency: ITAN Gives 40 days ultimate to Gov. Yahaya Bello to declare for presidential race

By Sani Idris

A Nigerian Socio Political Association under the auspices of Inter- Tribal Association of Nigeria, ITAN has issued an ultimatum to Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to make his intentions public by declaring for the 2023 Presidential  race within 40 days or face legal action from the Association.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued to pressmen by the President and Secretary of ITAN, Comrade Simon Terna Anakaa and Comrade Jabir Aminu Maiturare.

They said the association on Saturday 26th of March in Abuja  threatened to drag the governor before the court of law by instituting a legal action against him if he fails to make the much-anticipated declaration to contest for the nation's presidency at the expiration of the ultimatum.

The Association noted that Yahaya  Bello's Presidential aspiration was not just about him as an individual but that he represents hope and the aspirations of all the Nigerian youths.

"Yahaya Bello can not afford to hesitate further on the contest for Nigeria Presidential election after the APC Convention today," they said.

The duo added that hope and optimism have been vested on Yahaya Bello on becoming the number one leader of the country pointing out that over 70% per cent of the country's population are predominantly youths who believed in his leadership capacity and  have come to see him as the divine intervention that could help tackle the nations security challenges and to lead the country to the desired development and transformation.

They explained that the association have resolved to take the line of legal action against Yahaya Bello if he delays further in making his intentions known because they could not watch and allow 'the golden opportunity' to have one of their own at the helms of affairs of the country elude them.

They noted that such an opportunity of having young President was never easy to come by,  stating that over 70 per cent of Nigerias population consist of the youths who have thrown their weight in supporting Yahaya Bello's aspiration.

"With 2023 just by the corner, accompanied by an ample opportunity to Yahaya Bello to take advantage of demographic strength by taking over the mantle of leadership of the country, it's high time he declares urgently".

The group also noted that Gov. Yahaya Bello is the best man to achieve that goal on behalf of the youths in the country by ensuring the desired unity, security, employment and the economic empowerment of the critical sector of the nations population who are women and youths.

The group stressed that they were left with no other option than to employ measures that would compel Yahaya Bello to stand for the presidential race for the singular purpose of representing the collective interest of the younger generation who have been marginalised by the older generation and are well over ripe for leadership position of the country.

"Governor Bello being an aspirant from the North Central,  stands a better chance of winning the presidential election on the basis that he is the sole unifying candidate that can truly unite the country together without any string of sentiment or contention.

"The entire focus of all  youths and well-meaning Nigerians is for Yahaya Bello's declaration for the presidency, any further delay would not go well with the youths and Nigerians in general.

"We at ITAN representing the harmonious interest of Nigerian youths and masses  have jointly resolved to mount intensive pressure on Yahaya Bello to as a matter of urgency come out and declare for the Presidential race within the next forty days counting from today, we have no other alternatives but to approach the law court to sue him to do the youths bidding if he refuses,"they said.
