Residents of Kaduna have commended the quality of the Kabala-Barnawa Bridge project as contractors target completion before the end of the year.
The Kaduna State Government initiated the bridge to improve transportation, enhance safety, and ease the movement of people and goods between Kabala Costain and Barnawa communities.
The project is expected to provide an alternative route, reducing persistent traffic congestion around the Stadium Bridge, especially during peak hours.
A visit to the site showed that major construction work has been completed, with engineers and workers carrying out finishing touches on the remaining sections.
The Site Engineer, Gabriel Amunega, said the team was installing the top slab, designed to serve as permanent formwork while preserving the bridge's structural integrity.
Amunega expressed optimism that, with sustained efforts, the project would be completed before the end of the year.
Residents of the adjoining communities described the project as a welcome development that would improve connectivity and create new economic opportunities.
Murtala Mohammed said the bridge would encourage him to establish a large restaurant along the route because of the expected increase in traffic.
Shehu Isa said the bridge would connect Kaduna North and South, making movement between Kabala and Barnawa easier for residents.
Another resident, Hamisu Haruna, said the bridge would reduce traffic congestion around the Stadium Bridge and shorten travel time for commuters.
He thanked the Kaduna State Government, expressing confidence that the bridge would bring lasting relief to residents by providing an additional crossing over River Kaduna.
