The President, DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa, stated this on Saturday while marking the day with 255 widows at the Jaji military Cantonment in Kaduna State.

Musa said, “As we commemorate International Widows’ Day 2025, we take a moment to recognise the quiet warriors who have faced the challenges of widowhood with courage and dignity.

” These women, who did not choose this path, have shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of adversity.”

According to her, some widows have expressed interest in farming and would undergo training in Abuja to learn the skills necessary for profitable farming.

” They will acquire knowledge on farm management, business skills, and best practices to successfully run their own farms,”the DEPOWA president said.

She added that they would learn farming, adding, ” for those that are taking on fashion and designs, they are also going to a fashion house to learn those things.

“And some of them that are also doing little businesses, we are also supporting them with cash donation to enable them to start their businesses.

“We are also supporting to others that already have existing business to also top up what they have.”

“The initiatives are already showing a positive impact, with some widows indicating areas where they need assistance and expressing their enthusiasm to learn and grow.

“The support and empowerment of widows will enable them to break boundaries, build resilience, and create a better future for themselves and their families.

“On message of hope to widows   you are not alone, and you are not forgotten. You are strong, capable, and deserving of support and empowerment.

” With the right mindset and support, you can overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
