The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command said it has intercepted a truck with illegally procured solid minerals and arrested eight suspects.
NSCDC State Commandant, Mrs Lucy Fakoya, disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday in Kaduna.
She said that on April 19, 2024, the corps operatives had intercepted a truck around Tudun Wada, Kafanchan, in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State at about 2100 hours loaded with 37 tonnes of solid mineral product called MICA, mostly used by cosmetics industries valued at approximately N9, 250.000.
According to her, investigation has revealed that the product was illegally procured.
Fakoya further said that the command had arrested the first four suspects that accompanied the truck with the names; Sunday Ibrahim, Dominic Joseph, Princewill Elias and Abdullahi Adama.
“While other four suspects were also arrested on the same date and route conveying different types of solid minerals in sacks loaded in a pick-up van , suspected to be illegally procured,’’ she said.
She listed the names of the suspects to include: Benjamin Sunday, God’s-gift Monday, Silas Gayus and Emmanuel Wakili.
The commandant, however, said the eight suspects arrested by the operatives in connection with the offence were conveying the seized solid minerals to Lagos from Kaduna.
