A coalition of Youth groups under the auspices of Progressive Youth Agenda and Coalition of Arewa Youth and Students Forum, has appealed to the incoming members of the 10th National Assembly and the APC to support and choose Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara as Speaker for the House of Representatives.
The groups made the call in a joint statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna.
The statement was signed by Cmrd Jabir Aminu Maiturare, Chairman of the Coalition, Hon Simon Terna Anakaa, its Secretary and Amb. Sidika Yakubu, the coalition's PRO.
The coalition also appealed to nembers across all parties to shine their eyes and set their viewing focal strength to support Hon. Betara as the Speaker for his qualities of leadership with technical known how that could foster unity, development and straighten the bond between the Legislative, Judiciary and the Executive Arm of the Nigerian government.
The coalition explained that their decision after wide dialogue and consultations across the country after a holistic appraisal and assessments of Betara's track records of achievements reveled that he would ensure realisation of the yarning and aspirations of Nigerians.
"Betara has been a bridge builder, a unifer and a detribalized Nigerian who will foster unity among all the members of the 10th Assembly.
"Betara possesses qualities of leadership since during his secondary days when he became the head Prefect in his school in Government Technical School Benishek Borno State.
"Despite not having interest in politics initially but his qualities sees him as one who can bring change and development of his constituency and Nigeria at large and enter the then All Nigerian Peoples Party ANPP in 2007 to represent the good people of Biu, Kwaya, Kusar, Bayo and Shani Federal Constituency of Borno state and because of his contribution and good representation at the national Assembly, his people re-elected him three times to become one of the longest serving member to serve at Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Assembly without having any issue rising from any where but recommendations, accolades and encomiums by Nigeria’s which lead to many members envying his leadership styles.
"Hon. Betara served in many committees and leave the committee better than he made it,"they said.
They listed the committees which Betara served to include Chairman, Sub-committee on Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Office (CIPPO) 2007 - 2011. Chairman, House Committee on the Army 2011 - 2015, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence. 2015 – 2019, and now Chairman House Committee on Appropriation.
They coalition further said that Batera's contributions in ensuring peace, unity, stability, education, development, health care , human capital development , and youth/women inclusiveness in governance, strengthened some of the key ingredients that convinced their leadership to align with his aspiration in the interest of all Nigerias.
Furthermore, the coalition noted that at a period of global inflation worldwide, the 10th National Assembly needed a visionary leader that would consolidate the achievements of the ninth assembly in the interest of the present generation and generation yet unborn.
The coalition urged members of the 10th Assembly and the APC to unanimously choose Hon. Betara as the Speaker of the 10 Assembly to work hand in hand with the other three arms zone, adding that he is a unifier and a good leader that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu would enjoy working with.(NAN)

Tinubu urged Nigerians to begin to live more harmoniously with compatriots.
The President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to reflect on the priceless sacrifice and limitless love of God for mankind at Easter.

Tinubu made the call in an Easter Goodwill Message contained in a statement signed by him on Saturday.
The president-elect enjoined Christians across the country to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by showing love to neighbours, regardless of tongue, faith and tribe as they celebrates Easter.
He noted that Easter was about renewed hope and redemption, adding that it symbolised the triumph of hope over despair, love over hate and condemnation, and optimism over cynicism.
“Let us embrace this spirit and recommit ourselves to edifying and patriotic pursuits in the interest of our nation.
“I send my best wishes to Christians in Nigeria and all over the world who are celebrating Easter this Sunday.
“As we all enjoy the well-deserved break, I urge every Nigerian to reflect on the priceless sacrifice and limitless love of God for mankind.
“For Christians everywhere, this celebration is in commemoration of Jesus Christ’s life of service and his supreme sacrifice for the salvation of mankind.
“Let us all imbibe the essential message of Christ’s ministry and truly begin to love our fellow Nigerians as we love ourselves,” he said
According to the two-term former governor of Lagos State, we will make faster progress toward the achievement of the peaceful, united, strong, progressive and prosperous country we all desire if we eschew divisive, parochial, ethnic, religious sentiments and rivalries.
He urged Nigerians to begin to live more harmoniously with compatriots.
