Gov. Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, made the announcement during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members on Friday.
The governor said efforts were underway to secure a permanent site for NYSC.
If no suitable facility is found, the government will construct a new orientation camp for corps members.
Sani also disclosed that the NYSC Governing Council had been approved and was awaiting inauguration.
He hinted the inauguration could happen before the end of the current orientation course.
The governor described the NYSC scheme as a platform promoting service, patriotism, and selflessness.
He said it provided young Nigerians an opportunity to serve, learn, and grow in unity.
He encouraged corps members to take full advantage of various programmes and training offered, remain open to learning, and leave the orientation camp more enriched than when they arrived.
Sani reassured the corps members of the state’s commitment to their safety and welfare, urging them to stay in Kaduna and explore development opportunities during their service year.
He urged the corps members to be ambassadors of peace, unity, and national development, emphasising that their service could contribute meaningfully to Kaduna’s progress and national cohesion.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Efeke Dadaza, commended corps members for their commitment, outlining NYSC’s four cardinal programmes: orientation, primary assignment, community development service, and passing-out.
She said the orientation course introduced corps members to NYSC’s mission, local culture, and featured citizenship training, paramilitary drills, and skills acquisition to equip them for future opportunities.
Dadaza said corps members would undergo practical sessions on entrepreneurship under the SAED programme, designed to help them acquire vocational skills and potentially start small businesses post-service.
She reminded corps members to participate actively, follow all camp rules, and respect officials.
She stressed that commitment would be rewarded, while acts of indiscipline would attract sanctions.
Dadaza thanked Sani for his support but noted persisting challenges, including the lack of a permanent orientation venue, poor facilities, and the need for a functioning ambulance. (NAN)
