The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Kaduna State Command, on Tuesday urged its personnel to take peace to grassroots communities, saying that without peace, nothing could be achieved.
The State Commandant of the Corps , Panam Musa, made the call after a 4km walk and Jog with personnel’ in Kaduna.
Musa charged the personnel to speak peace wherever they go, promoting a culture of peace and reducing criminality.
He said, “By preaching peace, civil defence personnel can positively influence people in various settings, including Mosques and Churches, encouraging them to avoid actions that could lead to conflict or violence.”
He said that celebrating the day was a ‘Call to Action for a Peaceful World’, adding, “the day serves as a global reminder of the importance of peace and non-violence in our lives.
Musa said, “Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, this day is dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace and promoting a culture of peace, mutual understanding, and cooperation.”
He said the significance of the day was more than just a celebration, adding
”It emphasises the need for global commitment to peace, building societies where everyone feels safe and equal, and promoting positive and dynamic processes of peace.
“The day encourages individuals, communities, and nations to work together towards a more peaceful world.
“The theme for the 2025 International Day of Peace, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” is a timely reminder of the importance of taking concrete actions to promote peace and understanding.”
Musa said in a world facing numerous challenges, including conflicts, inequality, and social injustice, it was more important than ever to work towards a culture of peace.
“Promoting peace in our daily lives, so how can we promote peace in our daily lives.
“Engage in conversations about the importance of peace and understanding,”he added.
Musa called for involvement in local initiatives that promote peace and understanding, “speak out against language that promotes hatred and intolerance.”
He called for reports on incidents of bullying and support those who were affected, charging the personnel to treat others with respect and empathy, regardless of their background or beliefs.
Musa said the day was a reminder that peace was not just a vision; saying, “it is a call to action that each of us can answer by promoting understanding, respect, and justice in our daily lives.”
He said by working together, a more peaceful world where everyone can live in safety and dignity could be created.
The commandant appreciated Gov. Uba Sani for his continuous support for the security agencies, particularly the NSCDC.
This, Musa said, was by ensuring that the officers were well-equipped, motivated, and empowered to effectively to carry out their duties in protecting lives properties and national assets within the state.
He also appreciated the Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, for his visionary leadership and commitment to strengthening the corps.
” His dedication continues to inspire us we fulfill our mandate to protect lives and properties across the nation, “Musa said.
