A coalition of Arewa Civil Society Organisations and Concerned Students’ Movements is mobilising for a massive protest in Kaduna on June 18, 2025, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visit the state.
The protest is in response to the harsh economic realities and security challenges facing Northern Nigeria under President Tinubu's administration.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday in Kaduna by Comrade Hussaini Maiyaga, Director Public Communications of the group, he said the Northern region has been severely impacted by Tinubu's policies, leading to increased cost of living, soaring inflation, deteriorating security, and a rise in the number of children forced out of school and prostitution among young girls.
He added that the North Central states particularly Plateau and Benue, have witnessed repeated massacres of innocent citizens, while Boko Haram activities have resurged in the North East.
Maiyaga, therefore, said the protests would convey their deep dissatisfaction with President Tinubu's administration, which they feel has neglected the region's pressing issues.
"Instead of addressing these concerns, the president appears focused on his 2027 re-election campaign, marked by orchestrated endorsements from selected state governors and APC party loyalists.
"The planned demonstration will serve as a clear message to President Tinubu and the global community that the youth of Northern Nigeria demand better governance and action on pressing issues affecting their region,"he said.
He called on all affiliate members of the group to be on high alert and await further directives.
