Arewa Youth Assembly, a Non-Governmental organization, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun against CP Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede.
In a copy of the petition signed by Ahmed Ibrahim, the Assembly's Director of Research and Documentation and issued to newsmen on Friday in Abuja, he alleged that Ehiede falsified his service records and date of birth to delay retirement.
The petition, addressed to the Inspector General of Police and the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), claims that CP Ehiede's actions are a gross violation of Rule 100402(a) of the Public Service Rules 2021 and Section 12 and 25 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act.
Ibrahim, said that their investigation revealed that CP Ehiede's date of birth was consistently listed as April 18, 1965, in various staff lists from 2013 to 2023, but was changed to September 18, 1965, when he was promoted to CP in August 2024.
According to him, CP Ehiede's falsification of records was done in connivance with some officers in the ICT Unit to enable him to receive salary and other benefits from the government from April to September 2025.
This, Ibrahim, argued that it is a clear case of corruption and impersonation, and a blatant attempt to defraud the Federal Government of Nigeria.
He said the assembly has been monitoring events in the Nigerian Police Force, where several officers have been accused of involvement in falsification of their records, and some have been dismissed or forcefully retired.
"Our investigation into CP Ehiede's records revealed that he had been due to retire on April 18, 2025, but had refused to do so, and is still occupying his office and collecting salary".
The Director highlighted the punitive actions taken against other officers implicated in similar acts, such as AIG Abdul Yari and CP Aina Emmanuel, and urged the authorities to take similar action against CP Ehiede.
"It is surprising that despite the punitive action taken against other officers implicated in similar acts by the police authorities, Mr. Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede is head bent on circumventing the system,"
He, therefore called on the authorities to investigate the matter and bring CP Ehiede to justice. "We urge you to initiate an investigation into this matter and ensure that the officer is held accountable for his actions.
"Ensuring accountability for all personnel, regardless of their position, is essential to restoring and maintaining public confidence in the Police Force."
The organization has attached copies of the 2013, 2016, 2021, and 2025 lists of police officers, which allegedly show CP Ehiede's falsified date of birth.
The petitioners have also expressed their support for the anti-corruption campaign of the President's Renewed Hope Agenda and have called on the authorities to take prompt action to address the matter and salvage the image, reputation, and integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
The development has sparked concerns about corruption and accountability within the NPF, and it remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to the allegations.
