The Coodinators of Betta Edu's Media Centre has said that their lives and that of their families is in danger after a fallout with Betta Edu.
Seeking protection, the Media Coodinators said they were compelled to bring to the attention of the relevant security agencies, and the general public, the recent attempts by Hon. Yusi Buba, Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization to Dr. Betta Edu, and Yusuf Raul Gombe, Convener of Betta Edu New Media Center, to deny their organization's existence and endorsement of Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike for the ministerial position.
The Centre, therefore said threats and intimidation would not silence them on their call and endorsement of Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike for the Ministerial position stripped off from Betta Edu.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen on Monday by the Betta Edu's Media Coordinators.
The Coordinators are Abubakar Abdullahi Ja'afar, Edu's Kano State Media Coordinator, Bulama Muhammad Bukar, the Borno state Media Coordinator, Sani Bello Ibrahim, the Katsina state Media Coordinator, and Tanko Muhammad Ibrahim, the Nasarawa State Media Coordinator.
Other media Coodinators and signatories to the statement were Ahmad Muhammad of Taraba State, Halimat Muhammad of FCT, Abuja and Abubakar Kayarda of Niger State.
The Betta Edu Media Coodinators said that in spite of them possessing documented evidence of the their tenure under Dr. Betta Edu, including duly signed appointment letters and an access card, Hon. Yusi Buba has claimed ignorance of their appointmentd and labeled them as an "unrecognized group."
Furthermore, the Coodinators said they have recorded a phone call from Hon. Yusi Buba on Sunday, August 18, 2024, attempting to resolve their differences, which they were willing to make public.
"We are disturbed by the consistent reference to Dr. Edu as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, despite her suspension, and the pride, arrogance, and misguided optimism exhibited by her camp.
"Regrettably, upon our refusal to acquiesce to their demands, Hon. Yusi Buba and Yusuf Raul Gombe have resorted to threatening calls, promising to "deal with us and our families."
In light of the developments, the Media Coodinators call on the National security Adviser (NSA), Inspector General of Police and the Department of Security Services (DSS) to invite Hon. Yusi Buba and Yusuf Raul Gombe for questioning and documentation in order to ensure their safety and security, and to prevent any potential harm.
They restated their position to remains rooted to truth, integrity, and the welfare of Nigerians, inline with the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda with his determination to clamp down on national corrupt practices.
"We will not be swayed by attempts to blackmail or silence us by those who are doing everything possible to protect their selfish interest.
They Media Coodinators reiterated their call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike as the new Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, without delay.
"This appointment is crucial in addressing the nation's current challenges,"they stressed.
