A group under the auspices of Nigerian Citizens Movement for Good Governance, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to resign and pave way for the North-Central to lead party.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that A Kano State High Court has restrained the National Chairman of the APC, Ganduje from parading himself as a member of the party, earlier in the day.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Kaduna, the Convener of the group, Aminu Maipampo, frowned at the continuation of Ganduje as the National Chairman of the APC.
He recalled that Ganduje assumed the Acting Chairmanship of the APC after the voluntary resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Adamu as the Chairman of the party in July 2023.
Maipampo noted that, it was wrong in the first place for President Bola Tinubu to endorse the appointment of Ganduje as party's Chairman knowing fully that the chairmanship of the party ought to be retained in the North Central, which was the zone of the erstwhile Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu.
According to him, that led to dissatisfaction and disunity among a lot of loyal APC members in the North.
The Convener therefore called on Ganduje to as a matter of urgency step down to allow that exalted position to be occupied by a competent person from the North Central in order to ensure justice and fairness.
"Failure to relinquish his position in the next seven working days, we will be compelled to mobilise thousand party faithfuls and support groups to protest and shut down the APC National Headquarters in Abuja until the Acting Chairman resigns,"he said.
He also called on all the APC faithfuls and support groups who had shown interest in the course to remain calm and resolute until the group give further directives.(NAN)
