The Kaduna State Property and Development Company (KSPDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state Housing Exhibition Company (KHEC) towards the hosting of an exhibition that will attract foreign investments.
During the signing ceremony on Monday in Kaduna, Managing Director of KSPDC, Abubakar Rabiu, said the company wanted to hold the housing exhibition to attract foreign and local investors into the state housing sector.
Mr Rabiu, represented by the General Manager, Business Development of KSPDC, Olaide Giwa, added that the company perceived the idea of an exhibition to promote the real estate opportunity, where they found KHEC as expert company to guide the process.
According to Mr Rabiu, the exhibition will attract foreign direct investments and give the state an opportunity to increase its internally generated revenue.
He said, “It will also be an opportunity to attract jobs into the state and for the state’s housing policy of the current administration to be met. We hope to make the exhibition as big as KADINVEST; we are looking for it to be a legacy project and sustain it annually.’’
He disclosed that the exhibition would tentatively hold in July, when the KSPDC would work with sister agencies and private sector stakeholders in the real estate sector.
Also, the MD of KHEC, Ola Rotimi-Shodimu, said the joint venture would be a potential boost to the housing economy of Kaduna state and the northern region in general.
He stressed that the company was also looking at other value-added initiatives that would reduce the housing deficit in the state and the northern region.
“We are determined to reduce a certain percentage of the housing deficit in the state,” Mr Rotimi-Shodimu said.
He expressed optimism that the MoU would be a step to the realisation of the objectives for the betterment of citizens’ lives in the state
