By Muhammad Tijjani

The Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA), Maj-Gen Tariweriye  Gagariga, said the school was able to meet the 2023 curriculum and turned out proficient gunners for the artillery Corps.

Gagariga stated this at the 2023, West Africa Social Activities (WASA) on Saturday, which held at Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA), in  Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

He said  that WASA in the Nigerian Army derived its origin from West African Frontier Force (WAFF) which comprised of various West African units under British Colonial Government in the early 1900s.

He also said  WASA was an annual event, which was held in all Nigerian army formations, was part of the series of avenues to recognise the selfless and dedicated service of troops.

According to him, the 2023 training year saw us engage in series of impactful indoor and outdoor activities.

He said the  activities included annual artillery concentration exercise Ex-Vulcan Glow IX.

“All training activities culminated in the participation in exercise Mugun Bugu II at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kontagora.

He added that, the successful completion of all training activities encouraged the Nigerian Army  under the leadership of Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, to approve the conduct of WASA.

“Not unmindful of the security environment,  the year also  saw increased collaboration with our sister services and other  security and safety agencies , to mitigate challenges and emerging threats in our locality.

He explained that the presence of the security agencies at the event was an evidence to the cordial relationship which existed  in Kachia.

“As we set out to build on the success of 2023, let us all for now sit back and enjoy the rich culture of our great nation,” Gagariga said.

Also Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State , said the state government would continue to support the security agencies in the state to maintain peace and order.

Sani, who was the special guest of honour acknowledged the contribution of the school to ensure security within the locality and the cordial relationship between all agencies in Kachia.

The Governor was represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Kabir Mainacibi.

“Your individual and collective untiring efforts and sacrifices in ensuring security of lives and properties in Nigeria at large and Kaduna in particular is much appreciated.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the  event showcased the rich cultural heritage and unity of Nigeria, while awards were also  given to personnel, who distinguished themselves in year 2023.
