A Non-Governmental Organization known, Glovis Entrepreneurial and Leadership Development Foundation (GELD) Foundation in its program to put smiles on the faces of people, targeted 500 widows and senior citizens in Abuja FCT, Kaduna, Kwara, Oyo, Kano, Nassarawa, Jos-Plateau, Benin, Benue and Lagos.
Every year’s December for GELD foundation, is an opportunity for them in extending their good hands to families and communities.
Therefore, as the Christmas season counts days, it is another time of the year when the foundation considered it necessary to ensure smiles in the faces of widow’s and their families.
Newsmen reports that graciously, in 2022, GELD foundation achieved distribution of food items and cash to 330 beneficiaries and families in seven states.
This year 2023, the foundation’s gesture to the 500 widows and senior citizens, is done in a most dignified way to celebrate the Christmas/ Yuletide season in Nigeria.
The program as envisioned by the Founder of the foundation, Mr Kayode Akinade, is aimed at putting smiles on the faces of widows and Senior citizens through distribution of raw food materials, Christmas card and cash gifts to support the widows and senior citizens; especially in the Yuletide season of December 2023.
The project, would also capture data entries of the shortlisted widows and senior citizens in respect to their businesses, home locations, physical well-being, and educational background among other details of importance.
According to Akinade, the program is keenly interested in putting smiles on the faces of widows and their families during the Christmas season, and also to get their data captured in respect of accessing future support to their business and development of entrepreneurial skill that could improve the management of their businesses and enhance productive living while supporting them on a journey management to financial independence.
He restated the foundation’s committment in alleviating poverty by enhancing the standard of living of women, uouths and widows that are engaged in small scale trades/crafts through business management and entrepreneurship training on how to move their business forward, financial empowerment and improve their standard of living.
“GELD foundation has developed several social and humanitarian projects for the benefits of women (widows) and youths in our society in general and look forward to doing more,”he said.
Akinade appreciate the continuous partnership and support of all their partners and stakeholders on the end of year GELD Goundation Widows Smile Program.
