The Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), AVM Emmanuel Wonah, says the involvement of locals is critical in the fight against insecurity in the country.

Wonah stated this at the final phase of  the Field Training  Exercise, code named “UBIAK-ISIN”, for students of Junior Course 95 of the college, on Tuesday in Jaji, Kaduna state.

He explained that “UBIAK-ISIN” was part of the operational packages for the students, and the field excercise climaxes all what they learnt during the training.

“It is unfortunate that people think that securing the nation should only be done through the kinetic ways.

“The truth is that we are all stakeholders; there is a collaborative effort and everybody is a stakeholder. This is call civil-military relationship.

“The armed forces is all about operations, what we do geared towards enhancing performance in the field.

“It affords us the opportunity to appraise the students as to what they have learned within the time they are in the college and taking it to bear in the field to ensure better security landscape for the nation,” he said.

The Commandant added that the armed forces always look for areas in the excercise that would add value to the improvement of training in the field of operations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that as part of the exercise, the college distributed palliative to the host community to enhance relationship with the civil pupolace.

“The essence is to make the community key into what we are doing.

“We have a conducive environment for conduct of our training, but I must acknowlede that the environment is not as safe and peaceful as it used to be in the past.

“This is to also make us leverage on the villagers’ presence to solicit timely credible intelligence,” Wonah said.

NAN reports that the host communities that  benefited from the palliative and medical outreach were Wusono, Anguwan Lauya and Camp Salaya General Area in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna  state.(NAN)
