 Agency Reports

By Muhammad Tijjani

The Defence Industries Corporation of  Nigeria (DICON) Officers’ Wives Association (DICONOWA), has shared food items, other essentials to orphanage homes as part of its end-of-the-year humanitarian outreach to host communities in Kaduna.

The Coordinator of DICONOWA, Mrs Nafisa Tafida, led the distribution of palliatives on Saturday in Kaduna.

Tafida stated that the distribution of food stuff and provisions was done as part of the association’s kind gesture of showing love, compassion and generosity to the vulnerable in the society so they could feel the sense of belonging in the forthcoming Christmas and New Year Seasons.

She reiterated the resolve of the officers’ wives to extend hands of generosity to the needy and less-privileged members of the society.

Tafida expressed optimism that the facility which caters for primary health needs of both civilians and military personnel would be upgraded with DICON becoming a military industrial complex in the nearest future.

She expressed satisfaction with the equipment and facilities at the clinic, adding that she had no iota of doubts that patients are in good and capable hands in the hospital.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the orphanage homes visited included Jamiyyar Matan Arewa and Adonai and  DICON medical facilities.

NAN also reports that items given to the orphanage homes included bags of rice, beans, cartons of noodles, spaghetti, yam tubers, palm oil, vegetable oil, diapers, towels and wipes, among others.

The DICONOWA coordinator became emotional and was moved to tears at Adonai orphanage home, while posing for a photo session with children in the care-giving facility, promising to remember them frequently in kind gestures of the association.

In her response, President of Jamiyyar Matan Arewa, Rabi Saulawa, while commending the kind gesture of DICONOWA, promised to utilize the donated items judiciously, adding that the food and other essential items would go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of kids at the centre.

She enjoined other individuals and corporate entities to emulate the generous gesture of the officers’ wives, saying orphans needed to be pampered with gifts and show of love so they won’t be overwhelmed by their status.

Also, the handler of Adonai Orphanage Centre, Pastor Samuel Oyelowo, appreciated DICONOWA for remembering the orphans, particularly in the Season of showing love to the needy as enjoined on followers of Christ in the scripture.

Oyelowo said the facility, since its establishment about 28 years ago, had not recorded a casualty among inmates, some of whom he disclosed are university graduates, thanks to the sponsorship and efforts of the centre.

“We must appreciate people like you who have kept us rolling in our efforts to cater for these kids whose welfare and upbringing have fallen on us.

“At present, we have 37 children in this facility, 12 are in different universities such as the Ahmadu Bello University, Bayero University, Ekiti University and Kaduna State University, all on our expense.

“We will ensure that all children in this Home are taught one form of trade or the other so they would become useful members of the society,” he said.

NAN report that at DICON Clinic, items distributed included mosquito nets, blankets, electrical current stabilizers, rechargeable lamps and dustbins, among others.

The Medical Director of DICON Clinic, Col. Maruf Yaya, lauded the association, saying the donated items would make positive impacts and be maximally utilized. (NAN)

Muhammad berated Obi for the decision, which according to him, was still fresh in the minds of Nigerians.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Punch, he recalled how the non-indigenes who were ejected from Anambra State, found a new home in Lagos State.

Muhammad words: When Peter Obi was busy increasing school fees in Anambra State, Tinubu was busy introducing free education, Anambra were rushing to Lagos to benefit from free education. Every day, you see a truckload of people going to Lagos in buses to benefit from Tinubu’s free education.

“When Peter Obi came, we know what he did to non-indigenes; people who are non-Anambra citizens in Anambra State were sent out of the civil service. Many of them ended up in Lagos."

Muhammad also admitted that consultations were ongoing for the SDP to adopt the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Extolling Tinubu's performance as a Governor, Muhammad said the APC presidential candidate gave non-indigenes of Lagos State opportunities in the civil service, while some occupied political offices, adding that he is the type of leader that can unify the country.
