By Mohammed Tijjani

The Council of Imams and Ulama in Kaduna State, on Monday, appealed to political parties to ensure  peaceful campaigns for the 2023 general elections.

Sheikh Musa Tanimu, Assistant Secretary General of the Council made the appeal during a media briefing in Kaduna.

Tanimu also called on  all members to resist any temptation by individual politicians or groups to bring discomfort and ill feelings among members by way of disuniting and misinforming the members.

He added that members should be more vigilant and avoid such temptations whose sole goal was to disunite and disorganise the permanent and long relationship amongst the members.

According to him, the council is already planning its own agenda towards the 2023 general elections.

“It will certainly come out very soon with its position and will be made public to the benefit of the entire Muslim Ummah.

“This is to ensure that they avoid unprecedented statements that may cause breaches of law and order among citizens of the state.

“They should be certain that leadership and rulership is from Allah and he bestows it on whosoever he so wishes at his appointed time, “Tanimu said.

He further said the council was making a clarion call on its members and the muslim ummah to continue to pray for permanent peace, and tranquility among residents of  kaduna, Northern Nigeria and the Nation as a whole.
