Corruption under Audi led NSCDS terrible, sack him urgently, UNYF cries out

By Sani Idris

The leadership of Unified Nigerian Youth forum (UNYF), has called for the immediate sack of  Ahmed Audi, the Commandant-General (CG) of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), saying corruption under his leadership is terribly  glaring.

President of UNYF, Comrade Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem, made the call in a statement issued to pressmen on Tuesday in Kaduna.

He noted that the forum had  followed with keen interest the allegations raised against the current CG of NSCDC where contractors and other stakeholders from within where left with no option than to publicly voiced out on the current happening in the Corps which included unprofessional conduct, contract/job racketeering, favourism, adminstrative bribe and others forms of bad leadership.

Kazeem also noted that President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration has zero tolerance for all forms of corruptions at all levels of Governance and therefore should immediately sack the CG.

"To our greatest suprise, the NSCDC is the corruption hub of Nigeria under the leadership of Mr Audi, in less than a year of his leadership, he has transferred many professional, patriotic, committed and brave commanders of the Corps out of strategic positions and commands.

"He replaced them with his puppets who lack all the required professional qualities to occupied such sensitive position considering the country's recent battles against banditry, cattle rustling and all other forms of insecurity confronting the nation.

"The NSCDC are expected to support our armed forces, the Nigerian police and other sisters security outfit in tackling crime rate, terrorism and fight against crude oil and national assets theft, considering their yearly budgetary allocations".

Kazeem lamented that however the financial and moral support by the Federal Government to effectively reposition the NSCDC in carrying out their mandate, yet the Audi led NSCDC deploys officers loyal to him and not the nation.

"This is a scandal and it is unacceptable at any rate," he lamented.

Kazeem further stressed that  Audi was on a mission to compromise all youth groups across the country in order to stop them from exposing his act of corrupt practices.

"The time is now and  President Muhammadu Buhari must act to save the NSCDC from Dr Ahmed Audi because the service has become a cesspool of corruption and maladministration.

"We have as an organised forum, chose not to compromise on President Buhari's noble ideals and principles of fighting corruption and individuals who are derailing the Anti-corruption crusade must desist doing so.

"Failure of Mr president to act urgently in sacking Audi, the UNYF will not hesitate to carry out massive protests across the country," Kazeem said.

He noted that,  "For historical purposes that UNYF dissociates and disaffiliate itself from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) because it has become a willing tool and stooge for corrupt public office holders at the detriment of Nigerians and the current administration".

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin 'Falz' Falana has reacted to the report indicting the Nigeria Army and Police over the shooting that took place at the Lekki toll gate in 2020.

In a post shared via his Instagram Stories on Monday, November 15, 2021, the lawyer turned rapper said the government tried to make everyone doubt their sanity in the heat of the shootings.

"These animals legit made us doubt our sanity about the Lekki massacre you know. Panel don compile their report, we gather here," he wrote.

Falz was one of the vocal celebrities when the #EndSars protest began.

In a chat with CNN's Christiana Amanpour in 2020, the rapper gave a breakdown of how the protest started and what it meant for young Nigerians.

"Myself and another artist, Runtown, we had shared on our Twitter handles that we were going to do a walk, a peaceful protest against all forms of police brutality. We did that with the hashtag #EndSars. The hashtag was already in existence. It was a big thing on social media but nobody had gone to do it physically, so we decided to go a step further," he said.

Amanpour asked the rapper if he wasn't scared for his life after many other disgruntled young Nigerians refused to speak to the media on the crisis in the country.

"I'm not afraid for my life. I'm not afraid for my life because where we are right now, I can actually die from anything. I don't even know where to start from, we have a nonexistent health care system, we have a seriously high level of poverty, there is unemployment and we are in a critical state because of how much corruption we've continued to see in the country," he said.

The Lagos state judiciary panel on the Lekki toll gate shooting recently released its report.

According to the report, there was an attempt to cover up the incident of the 20th of October by the cleaning of the Lekki tollgate and the failure to preserve the scene ahead of the potential investigations.⁣
