The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Barnawa, Kaduna, on Thursday commended the management of the hospital for equipping the facility with the needed facilities, equipment and manpower to deliver quality services.
The association made the commendation in a Letter of confidence to the Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Abdulkareem Yusuf and the Management Board under the leadership of Amb. Babagana Ajimi.
In the latter, signed by its President, Dr Hassan Salihu and the Secretary General, Dr Musa Abdulrazaz, the association particularly lauded the ongoing infrastructural development and equipping of the hospital with critical facilities.
The doctors said that one of the visible changes was the revamping of the hospital laboratory to make routine investigations easier.
They said that before the leadership of the MD, most of the routine investigations had to be done outside the hospital premises due to lack of the needed reagents and equipments.
They also commended the management of the hospital for equipping and restocking the hospital's pharmacy with essential drugs
"Since the onset of the current administration, the essential drugs used in the management of common illnesses have been made available.
"This has made patent management easier with less financial burden on patients and thei relatives.
"There is also the recruitment of more doctors which has made work more effective and reduced the number of patients waiting time and provide more time for assessment," they said.
The doctors thanked the MD and board of management for prompt response to staff exigencies and other welfare issues.
They identify some of the massive infrastructural development to include a new administration block, new General Outpatient Department complex, new hostels and classes at School of Post Basic Psychiatric Nursing.
Others according to them were, construction of new data ward, and provision of more books abs research materials at the hospital library.
"We are also satisfied with the judicious use of Federal Government's COVID-19 Intervention Fund", they added.
"The fund was used in the construction of a molecular laboratory, construction of fully equipped 10-bed intensive care unit with 10 ventilators, four dialysis machines, two new ambulances.
"It was also used for the construction of 16-bed Isolation Centre, Mobile X-ray Unit and provision of personal protective equipment to all service rendering staff.
"We will continue to cooperate with the management to take the hospital to greater height," the doctors said. (NAN)
