By Aisha Gambo

Following the resumption of schools in Kaduna state, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Monday began a sensitisation campaign on the second wave of COVID-19 and school resumption protocols.

Zubair Galadima-Soba, NOA state director made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

Galadima-Soba said the campaign was aimed at sensitising both teachers and students on the importance of adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.

He explained that the agency began the campaign on March 1 and would continue visiting both primary and secondary schools across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.

“We have visited both private and public schools in various local government areas of the state and we have observed that most of the schools are complying with the COVID-19 protocols.

“Both students and teachers were wearing facemasks, there were hand washing points, temperature of students were checked before entering the schools and there is social distancing except for some few public schools due to population,’’he said.

He stated that in all the schools visited by NOA officials, the Principals and headmasters commended the Agency for the campaign.

The director added that the school heads promised to do the needful by ensuring COVID-19 safety guidelines were being observed by students and teachers.

Galadima-Soba further stated that some of the school heads recommended that government should build additional classes and provide more chairs and desks in public schools to accommodate the social distancing protocols.(NAN)
